One of the more comic assumptions made by our EU funded Liberal Democratic Remainers is that as we leap into the uncharted waters of Brexit, we are leaving the safety of some sort of lifeboat.
Anyone who listens to debates in the EU parliament would realise what a mess they are in and indeed desperate for our money to stay afloat.
Mediterranean countries like Greece have had their economies ruined and Italy feels abandoned as the migrants swamp in.
Add in 30 per cent youth unemployment and it is easy to see why there is growing support for far right parties to sort out the mess created by the social democrats.
Indeed history tells us conditions are ripe for another European conflagration and this country would be better off out of this forthcoming disaster.
Instead of our money going to promote it, we would be better off building up our defences, strengthening our own economy and repairing our damaged Commonwealth relationships.
Those that think we would be better off staying in the EU and reforming the organisation should look at what happened to David Cameron.
Any sort of shift by the EU on “freedom of movement” and the referendum would have had a totally different result and the Remainers would have won hands down.
The EU negotiators would not budge an inch and their dogmatic stance produced Brexit.
There is no interest in changing the EU at our behest and it is only interested in our financial contributions.
Oddly enough this is exactly the position Theresa May has strenuously negotiated this country into. “Brexit means Brexit” she used to say.
Brexit actually means Remain until the EU implodes of its own accord.
In or out I suspect we’ll be badly prepared when it happens.
