In Bloom judges come to town

Residents and traders have been urged to ensure gardens and public areas around their homes and businesses are looking their best for ‘In Bloom’ judging.

Judges from East Midlands In Bloom are due to be in Holbeach and Long Sutton today (Thursday, July 5) and Spalding on Monday (July 9).

Angela Newton, chairman of Spalding In Bloom Committee, said: “We would ask people to be particularly careful about their litter and remind people to weed the street gutters. A lot of people take great pride in their gardens and forget the gutters.

“It’s all about doing something positive to make us stand out.”

Coun Newton thanked all the businesses and individuals who support the effort each year, with particular mention of Neame Lea, Gosberton, which supplied and planted bedding plants in beds around

High Bridge and near Spalding Water Taxi jetty, in Double Street.

Last year, Spalding was awarded gold by judges for the fourth year running. Holbeach also got gold and Long Sutton silver gilt.
