Striker the final piece in the set for Knights

After signing another striker in Fraser Bayliss, manager Ian Dunn says he is happy with Pinchbeck United’s squad ahead of their ChromaSport United Counties Premier Division campaign.

Talented young striker Bayliss has made the move from Boston Town and is the latest to sign for the newly promoted Division One champions.

The Knights returned to pre-season training last night (Wednesday) and Dunn is delighted with the squad he has to work with for the next five weeks ahead of their Premier Division bow.

“Unless something presents itself that’s too good an opportunity to turn down, then I don’t think we’ll be adding to the squad.

“We’re delighted with what we have with 19 players definitely signed on for next season..

“We’re still trying to get Andrew Tidswell to sign again but that depends mostly on his job while Tom Brooks has not 100 per cent committed.

“We’re hoping that both will stay with us.

“I do feel that we have the kind of squad you need at this level of football.

“We wanted to increase competition for places and we’ve certainly done that.

“You’re always going to have a few missing and even with up to five players missing through suspension or injuries, we’d still have a full and strong match day squad.”

Dunn says Pinchbeck set out to add more attacking threat to their play and Bayliss is the latest to join that adds options to that area.

Dunn knows him well and excited to be working with him again.

“I worked with him when I was in charge of Boston Town though he was only 16 or 17 at the time,” Dunn continued. “He’s a good player who is very tricky and leaves defenders guessing.

“We felt we needed more up front so we’d win a couple more games than by the odd goal.

“Yes we scored 90 goals in the league last season but a few scored over 100.

“Fraser joins Lee Neeson and Jordan Nuttell in coming in and it provides competition for places which is what we want.

“Now we’ve got options to mix it up when we need to.”
