Parish School pupils rise to big workout challenge

Spalding Parish C of E Day School felt the positive results when they took up an excercise challenge set by Body Coach Joe Wicks, who was on a mission to get one million children exercising in one week.

The 127 year five and six children from the Parish School, as well as the members of staff who also joined in, met in the school hall every day at 10am to complete the 30-minute-high energy workout. They followed the live stream on Joe Wicks’ Body Coach YouTube channel to join thousands of schools across the country.

Spalding Parish C of E Day School Deputy Headteacher Kim Bird said the children were thrilled to get a shout out from the Body Coach himself.

Kim adds the positive effects of exercise were apparent: “It was great to see all the year five and year six children and staff enjoying the challenge of the high energy workout and improving in their fitness levels as the week went on.

“We saw increased concentration levels and a more positive outlook on the work they were completing in the classroom. Parents have also responded positively with some completing workouts from the week at home with their children, added Kim.

Pupils follow Joe Wicks’ fitness online stream.
