Hillbilly hoedown from Utah coming to Spalding

Americana band 3hattrio travel from Southern Utah to the South Holland Centre for a night of stripped-back, barnstorming music.

As part of their UK tour, the group plays Spalding on Thursday, September 14.

The band comprises singer and guitarist Hal Cannon, Greg Istock on acoustic bass and foot percussion, and the classically trained violinist Eli Wrankle.

World music magazine Songlines described 3hattrio as “visionary and traditional all at once”, so expect dusty cowboy music with a modern twist. The group call it ‘American desert music’.

Hailing from the vast Zion Canyon, the group draw inspiration from the ragged red rocks, the giant vistas and the area’s settlers.

“From our vantage we are not all that different from other pioneers who came from diverse places to make community,” said singer Hal. “From our varied musical backgrounds something truly American can be made out of the necessity to find sociability in an isolated place and to come with the intention to create something new.”

Tickets to hear that new sound cost £12.50 / £11.50 (concessions) and £7.50 for under-26s. To book, call 01775 764777 or online www.southhollandcentre.co.uk
