Dunn happy with Pinchbeck United’s point despite late Lutterworth goal

A last-gasp strike denied Pinchbeck United what would have been a big win over an impressive Lutterworth Town side on Saturday.

Ollie Maltby fired what looked like being the winner for the Knights five minutes from time in the ChromaSport UCL Division One clash at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Lutterworth levelled with just a minute left on the clock – and player/boss Ian Dunn admitted that it was the least the visitors deserved.

“They are a very, very good side,” admitted the striker. “Easily the best side we’ve played in my time with Pinchbeck.

“We figured out very early on that they were a side who could outplay us, so we dug in and soaked up some pressure.

“We knew we’d get a chance at some point if we boxed clever – and thankfully it fell to Ollie, who tucked it away.

“Sadly we switched off an allowed them to get an equaliser, which obviously hurt at the time.

“But, on reflection, it’s a very good point against a side that I think would beat most UCL Premier Division teams.

“I’ve not seen every side at this level, but I don’t imagine there will be a better one than them.

“We just have to look at it as a decent point against a very difficult team and move on.

“They celebrated like they’d won the league at the end, so we can take encouragement from that.

“We’ll always go out to win a game, but Saturday was one of those matches when you have to accept that a draw was OK.”

Pinchbeck are at home again on Wednesday, with Bourne Town the visitors (7.45pm).

Pinchbeck: Martin, Gordon (Smith 75), Smith, Brooks, Gardner, Panting, Eyes, Bishop (Ogden 75), Tidswell, Dunn (Kingston 70), Maltby. Not used: Withers, Wright.

Attendance: 63.
