Roger’s campaign for better broadband earns a Pride nomination

A Saracen’s Head man who single-handedly launched a campaign to improve broadband speed in the village has been nominated for this year’s Pride of South Holland awards.

Roger Langstaff went door-to-door to collect connection speeds from local residents and businesses.

Now Roger’s tireless attitude and successful campaign has led to a fellow Saracen’s Head resident nominating him for the Community Hero award.

The nomination states: “In 2016, Roger talked to both residents and business owners, establishing the level of broadband received, collecting the data and contact details of who he spoke to.

“Following the subsequent case presentation to BT, the company agreed that we did indeed have reason to complain and that they would take it further.

“In April this year we had the good news that BT have accepted our programme for an improved broadband service.

“This has been a long and painstaking process but the perseverance, time and effort invested by Roger has been more than impressive.”
