Village halls are at the heart of the community

Reasonable rental rates and a clear space suitable for almost all events put village halls at the heart of their local community.

The diverse events on offer at our local hubs – from exercise classes to film clubs – are testament to the creative and community-minded organisers who book the space.

Whaplode Village Hall is an excellent example of a venue serving all ages and a range of interests.

This Saturday the Whaplode Film Club is screening Sully, the Tom Hanks film about the real-life daredevil landing of a passenger jet on the Hudson River in New York. More than just a screening, the film club is a social occasion too.

Other social events on Whaplode Village Hall’s calendar include the Wednesday morning Coffee Pot gatherings and bingo every third Friday.

Sports and fitness activities for all ages are regularly and readily available.

Those in the mood for dancing can choose from line-dancing lessons by Lets-Danze, Thursday evening ballroom dancing and Saturday morning children’s street dance (term time only).

For all-out fitness, try the Totally Shredded drum and bass workout on Tuesdays.

Children’s martial arts classes take place on Monday evenings, while on Tuesday afternoons it transforms into a New Age Kurling arena.

Finding out what’s happening at your village hall and those in the surrounding areas is a great way to new hobbies and new friends.
