Party time as crowds flock to enjoy Bakkavor bonanza

An action-packed weekend saw crowds flock to the annual Bakkavor Party in the Park at the Springfields Events Centre.

The two-day event was put on for all Bakkavor employees and their families with the general public attending the Saturday night music spectacular and Sunday fun day.

The annual Bakkavor’s Got Talent competition saw April Morgan win the £1,000 prize after impressing the judging panel which consisted of company directors.

Entertainment was provided by the Diamondz Dance Troup with bands Radius 45 and QE2 performing to packed crowds before the Saturday evening ended with a massive firework display.

There was also a special presentation to Pat Baxter who is retiring from Bakkavor after being a big part of the organising committee for the past four years.

Sunday was another full day of entertainment which included a dog show that was judged by Coun Harry Drury, vice-chairman of South Holland District Council.

There were classic cars, Triumph bikes, plus the amazing Roger Tuby Fun Fair. The hall was also filled with stalls to help raise funds for Petronella’s charity Action Medical Research.

The event was compered by Jan Whitbourn of Tulip Events who is part of the organising committee.

Jan said: “There wasn’t a sad face to see all weekend.

“It was an outstanding community event with great attendance and a very proud, tired committee at the end of the day.

“Well done to everyone who was involved. The community will look forward to another Bakkavor Party in the Park next year.”
