Green Party’s Dan (21) on General Election campaign again in South Holland and The Deepings

Green Party member Dan Wilshire is back for another General Election fight in South Holland and The Deepings constituency.

The 21-year-old university student drew praise for his campaign in 2015 when he came fourth out of the five candidates.

Dan, whose Spalding address is in Woodfield Close, said: “I was honoured and proud to stand as the Green Party candidate in 2015.
“In this snap election I am standing again to present my vision for South Holland and The Deepings. I want to see my home prosper.
“We have had too much of the same for far too long and I believe that I can champion change for South Holland and The Deepings.”

Two weeks before the poll on June 8 comes Dan’s final exams.
The former Spalding Grammar School student is in his final year at the University of Birmingham, studying economics including modules such as health economics, theory of public finance and economic policy.

He said: “I want to use what I have learnt to show that there is an alternative to the Conservatives’ idea of ‘strong and stable’.
“We at the Greens have built our polices based on fact, not fiction.
“We can afford to have fully funded health and education services. We can still stop climate change.
“We can do better. I hope I will be able to get across how it is possible to achieve all this when we have been told for so long we can’t.
“My challenge this election is to make people believe this future is possible too.”

  • Rick Stringer, of Needham Drive, Sutton St James, is standing as an Independent candidate.
  • Other candidates for South Holland and The Deepings constituency: Julia Cambridge (Liberal Democrat); John Hayes (Conservative);  Voyteck Kowalewski (Labour); Nicola Smith (UKIP).
