Tyler’s treble inspires six-up Pinchbeck United to dominant Leverington victory

Pinchbeck United kept the pressure on ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division leaders Peterborough Sports Reserves with an emphatic 6-0 success over Leverington Sports on Saturday.

With leading scorer Ollie Maltby still out, the in-form Fabio Ramos gave Pinchbeck a 1-0 lead at the break with a tenth-minute strike.

That’s how it stayed up until the final 25 minutes, with Tyler Wright then helping himself to a hat-trick – including one stunning 25-yard free kick.

Skipper Nick Bishop and sub Brad Murrell also notched for Ian Dunn’s side to keep them second in the standings.

Player/boss Dunn was pleased to see his side score six times without key man Maltby and challenged his side to keep the pressure on the league leaders.

He said: “To be fair to them, they were always in the match. They maybe had one shot, if you can call it that, which was a cross that hit the bar.

“It was a case of us grinding them down really. As always seems to be the case, they tired at the end and we scored five goals in the last 25 minutes.

“What pleased me most was that we got six goals without Ollie Maltby in the side. I think it proves that we aren’t a one-man team and that we can play without him.

“Obviously we want him back as soon as possible, but it’s good to know we are capable without him.

“Nothing has really changed for us. Games are coming thick and fast – so it’s a case of keeping the lads fit and trying to keep the pressure on Peterborough Sports.

“All we can do is keep on winning.”

Pinchbeck: Martin, Gordan, Gardner, Smith, Brooks, Shipley, Bishop, Wright, Edwards, Ogden, Ramos. Subs used: Dunn, Eyes, B Murrell. Not used: Lawe.
