The top four teams in Division One all changed places as the Spalding and District Table Tennis League returned to competitive action on Wednesday.
South Holland, the leaders going into the festive break, faced JDM, who were third, and won 3-2. Richard Hammond won two and Jean White one, with Jon Chesworth scoring for the losers plus the doubles.
Jokers, who were just one behind, completed their match with Outsiders with a win – for 5-0 – to level up. Guntars Briedes and Sasha Martin then took all the singles for a 4-1 win over Mine’s a Pint in their scheduled match.
Meanwhile Bladerunners’ pair of Dave Gibson and Colin Vertigan scored their own whitewash of Outsiders.
These results mean Jokers lead by one from South Holland while Bladerunners leapfrog JDM to go third.
At the other end of the table Nets and Edges’ James Gibson and Reece Kerry also won all their singles for a 4-1 win over Aches and Pains.
In Division Two, the issues with Pingers have hopefully been resolved with Phil Knowles moving over from Win for a Curry to support James Coote.
Unfortunately, Sons of Anarchy are unable to continue due to pressure of work. As they have only completed three matches these results have been declared void.
Those have affected three of the top four who lose no more than three points. Main beneficiaries are Hurricane Brothers who had not played Anarchy.
They added to their score with a 5-0 win over Castle Sports to move up to second, while leaders MatDuf tumbled to their first defeat of the season – 3-2 against Chunky and Monkey Junior.
Dave Coley led the way with a pair and then added the doubles.
This was on top of the point gained when they completed their match with A Win For a Curry.
Skidlids drop to fourth having gained a win in the only game played against Pingers.
Also completed was the second semi-final of the Moulton Shield with Jokers gaining a winning lead over JDM.
They now meet Bladerunners in the final.
