South Holland district councillor running London half marathon for two charities

When Andrew Woolf failed to secure a place in the ballot for the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 9, he thought that was it for this year.

But then he entered an online raffle and won a place!

woolfAndrew, of Moulton, said: “I would not consider myself as a runner, but I supported two friends last year when they ran the London Royal Parks Half Marathon. Whilst watching, I could not help but think it is something I would like to do.

“I was unsuccessful in the ballot, but actually won my place in an online raffle!

“Completely surprised, this meant I had the opportunity of running for any charity I wished and I thought about supporting local valuable charities LIVES and Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

“Both charities have been extremely supportive and I want to raise as much as I can for them. These charities do not make the headlines as the big organisations do, but are extremely important and could simply be the matter between life and death. The service they provide is invaluable which I am sure many local residents understand.

“As for training, it’s going well with me already doing a few 12/13-mile runs. I wouldn’t say it’s easy, but I’m 100 per cent confident that I will complete the run, but the more money I can raise, the more it will spur me on.”

He added: “I have one page for each charity, but will merge my total and split 50/50. Alternatively, please contact me on 07868 701659.”
