A free Bikeability course for youngsters is being staged in Spalding during the summer holidays.
The course takes place at the Castle Sports Complex on Monday, August 22, and is aimed at 11 to 16-year-olds.
Youngsters will learn vital skills to help them keep safe while cycling on the road.
It is a level three course which equips youngsters with the skills to deal with all types of road conditions and more challenging traffic situations.
These include dealing with hazards, assessing risks while on the move, planning safer routes for cycling and being aware of driver blind spots.
Phil Watt, Bikeability and cycling officer, said: “The summer holidays are a great time to get out exploring on your bike.
“But it’s important to have the skills to be confident on the road.
“These courses are an ideal opportunity for youngsters to learn vital skills to help them deal with any hazards they might encounter.”
Courses will be run in small groups and taught by qualified Bikeability instructors who are also DBS checked.
Anyone wishing to take part should already have completed Bikeability level two training and they will need a roadworthy bicycle and suitable cycle helmet.
They will need a parent/carer to accompany them at the beginning and end of each session.
The course lasts three hours and involves training on public roads. Times will be 9am-noon or 1-4pm.
