A recruitment seminar to attract more special constables is being held at Spalding Police Station next week.
The event gets underway at 7pm on Thursday, July 28, as part of a countywide recruitment drive by the Lincolnshire Police Special Constabulary.
They are aiming to attract people who have an interest in the community and in police work.
Steve Woodcock, chief officer for the Special Constabulary, explained that the roles provide a perfect link between the police service and the community and offer a wealth of interesting opportunities.
He said: “There is a chance to meet people from a variety of backgrounds in an even wider range of situations.
“Officers learn much about human nature, teamwork and increase their ability to cope with the unexpected.
“Although the role is unpaid, it brings huge benefits in terms of a broader life experience and definite feeling of worth.”
Special constables form part of the local policing team working alongside officers of the regular force and with other experienced specials.
To be eligible, those interested must be aged over 18 years, be a British or Commonwealth citizen, of good character and physically fit.
Upon appointment, officers attend an induction course at force headquarters. The next ones will begin in October.
