New home furnishings charity shop in Spalding

A Spalding charity shop was so busy with furniture donations that it has taken a leap by opening a dedicated store.

The Lighthouse Project, which has a shop and café in Sheep Market, now has a unit at Broadgate House in Westlode Street.
The shop has soft furnishings and electrical goods and is open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10am-2pm.

Jenny Tedbury said: “The reason we are only opening three days a week is that we’re hoping there are lots of people wanting to donate goods. We can collect and we’re offering free delivery in Spalding.
“We don’t have any government funding at all. The shop is a bit of a gamble but the volunteers are excited and we just hope people do come and buy from us and donate.”

Proceeds will support accommodation for homeless young people and single mums with babies, and help with provisions for supported living.
