It was frying pans at the ready as 13 youngsters went head-to-head in the annual Rotary Young Chef Competition.
Organised by The Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland, it took place in the food technology suite at Spalding’s Sir John Gleed School.
Students from Spalding High School, Sir John Gleed School, Spalding Grammar School and Bourne Academy competed.
Their challenge was to cook a main course and dessert for two people in 90 minutes, within a £10 budget.
The winner was Rebecca Hughen, of Bourne Academy, with Charlotte Wortley, of Sir John Gleed School, and Chloe Davis, of Spalding High School, being awarded joint second place.
Charlotte will represent The Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland in the district finals, while Rebecca will represent Bourne Rotary Club.
Speaking on behalf of the judging panel, Terry Windsor congratulated all entrants on their interesting menus before announcing the winners. They received cash prizes and certificates from Ron Britton, of competition sponsor South Lincs Food Service.
Organiser Rotarian Rodney Britten said the standard this year was again excellent and the competition remains very popular.
