Ex-England ace Matt back at Spalding Hockey Club for camp

Spalding Hockey Club is delighted to welcome back former England hockey international Matt Taylor and his coaching team for their fifth annual two day summer camp at Glen Park this week.

The camp, which will be attended by boys and girls aged between nine and 16 from Spalding and other Lincolnshire clubs, is led by Taylor – who is currently head coach at Nottingham-based Beeston Hockey Club.

Taylor will be joined by a coaching team with a wealth of experience, including Jamie Cachia, a Level 2 coach and Scottish international player, Will Byas, who plays for England at under-21 level,

Anna Toman, from the England Development team, and England senior player Suzy Petty.

  • There are plenty of other opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to play hockey with Spalding Hockey Club at their Glen Park base over the remainder of the summer.

Wednesday mornings in August see training for boys and girls aged five to 14 years (9.30am to 11.00am), while the senior ladies train on Tuesday evenings between 7pm and 8.30pm. Senior men’s training is on Wednesday (6.30pm to 9.30pm), while the adult beginners and family session is on Friday evenings (6pm to 7pm).

Saturday morning junior coaching sessions for junior boys and girls aged between five and 14 years start on September 5 (9.15am-10.45am) and will run weekly.

This Sunday (August 16) is the club’s Summer Sunday Social, with hockey for all of the family between 2pm and 4pm.
