With reference to the suggestion to pedestrianisation of more of Spalding town centre (Voice, August 6).
Sounds great to start with but as already been commented [on Voice Facebook page], the garish shop fronts on some properties makes it impossible to smarten up the town.
Until the council enforce whatever control they have in allowing this, then Spalding will still look untidy and will not encourage people to shop there.
What plans have been made for car parking? The suggestion so far is to reduce further the parking already available.
At present most of the long stay car parks are taken by people who work in the town, so any reduction in short term parking would have a bad effect on shoppers.
I think most residents want to see Spalding smartened up but more thought will have to go into the needs of those who have to travel into town by car.
