LETTER: I’d drive Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership and our MP on A16 to show them the issues

In response to the headline (The Voice, June 11) regarding the A16 and John Siddle, of Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership. The design of the road is not to blame for the recent accidents.

I do know we cannot compensate for drivers. Everyone is different, some have patience, some do not think about only themselves. This should have been taken into account when built.
Also I do understand that all accidents are different.

Some questions I would like answered by Mr Siddle:

  • Is the road built five years ago now fit for purpose? Five years and major road repairs are now being carried out. Under guarantee! How long does this guarantee last? The road is falling to pieces. How long will the road last?
  • Is the junction at Crowland (Radar Corner) safe? Why was it not a roundabout in the first place? Whichever way you drive onto this junction, there are blind spots. Is something going to be done about it before more accidents happen here?
  • Why has every roundabout got bends on them, leaving blind spots?
  • Why was it not a dual carriageway? Money should not come before the safety of the users.
  • Robust measures! Would Give Way signs changed to Stop signs be the answer? Painting the junction red and white, does traffic travelling at speed take notice.

To Mr Siddle and John Hayes, our MP, I say I would be prepared to drive you and show you what it’s like to use this road and junction on a regular basis.
If you are prepared to take up my offer please do not hesitate to contact me. But please don’t keep your heads in the sand.
