South Holland District Council’s Housing Landlord’s Service is celebrating being ‘awarded the highest possible rating’ for its social housing.
Last July it was given a C2 grading and told to make improvements by The Regulator of Social Housing.
But following its latest inspection its been given C1 status which the regulator says is ‘delivering the outcomes of the consumer standards’.
“The landlord has demonstrated that it identifies when issues occur and puts plans in place to remedy and minimise recurrence,” its guidance states.
The council says the new rating follows ‘significant improvements’ which have included the introduction of a Tenant Influence Panel (pictured) and hosting tenant forum and drop in events.
A council spokesman said: “Tenants are now involved with scrutiny of projects, co-producing policies and have played a significant role in shaping improvements to the repairs service as well as he reporting of anti-social behaviour.
“The C1 grading is an important milestone, but not the end of the journey. South Holland District Council remains committed to listening to tenants, learning from feedback and continuing to improve services to ensure residents receive safe homes, quality services and a strong voice in decisions that affect them.”
Coun Tracey Carter, portfolio holder for housing, said: “This is an outstanding achievement and reflects the hard work and commitment of our Housing Landlord Service team, as well as the valued involvement of our tenants.
“Achieving the highest possible consumer standards grading shows that we are listening to our tenants, responding to their feedback and delivering safe, well-managed homes.
“We are proud to be the first social housing landlord in Lincolnshire to achieve this rating and one of only a small number of councils nationally to do so.
“While the grading is important, we remain committed to building even further on this success and continuing to improve services for our tenants.”
