Dads’ quiz night in Pinchbeck

A dad-of-two who set up a group to bring others together to alleviate loneliness, is holding its first pub quiz in Pinchbeck.

Callum Jarvis founded Dads After Bedtime, initially as an online platform to get people chatting.

It’s proved so popular he is now putting on in-person meetings.

That includes its first ever community pub quiz taking place at The Bull Inn on Saturday, November 14.

Callum says all are welcome to the event which starts at 8pm, is free to enter and teams will be picked at random so people won’t be on their own.

“I started Dads After Bedtime because becoming a parent can make it surprisingly difficult to maintain friendships,” said Callum, who lives in Peterborough. “I wanted to create somewhere dads could make new friends, have a laugh and talk about everyday life without feeling judged.

“What began as an online place to chat has grown into a community of more than 400 members on the social messaging site Discord members, with real-life meet-ups, football socials, gaming and family activities.

“The reason we’re coming to Pinchbeck is that DAB isn’t just for Peterborough dads.

“We’ve got members from across the surrounding areas, and I want everyone to have opportunities to meet people closer to home.”

Callum hopes the quiz night will become a regular event and is looking to put on other events in and around South Holland.

“The long-term goal is to build a proper community where dads and their families can make friends, support one another and enjoy activities together,” he said.
