Long Sutton has been named as the Least Littered place in the region by the East Midlands in Bloom judges.
It was given a special award at last month’s announcement of the winners of the competition, during which local bloomers picked up a Silver award for its overall presentation in the Small Town category.
There was also a Judges Award for the Rainbow Nursery, given for their inspiring methods of teaching children the origin of their food.
A spokesman for Long Sutton in Bloom said it was ‘delighted to receive three awards’ saying the Least Litter award was ‘unexpected’.
“We know that a lot of the credit for this award is due to James Bailey who is a true servant to the town,” the spokesman said. “The hanging baskets are down and we are now thinking about winter and spring planting.”
A spokesman for the Rainbow Nursery said of its award: “We couldn’t be more proud.”
