Semi finalists decided in both cups

The Pinchbeck & District Summer Darts League reached the semi final stage of both Dewhursts Trophies Cup competitions this week, although both Knockout Cup ties were postponed after three of the four sides were unable to field a team.

Earlier in the week, Consti Club C produced the shock of the round by eliminating Division A leaders Lincoln Arms A in the third round, ending any hopes of a league and cup double.

Lincoln trailed 4-1 before pulling two back through Steve Stancer and Sam Roberts, but captain Paul Faulkner secured the win for the Consti side with a 2-1 victory over Steve Gaughan in the penultimate game.

Roberts hit an 18-dart leg, while John Charlton produced a 16-dart leg for Lincoln.

In the Ward Trophy for Division B and C sides, both finalists were confirmed.

Drayman’s Arms B booked their place with a 5-4 win at Green Dragon Z, overturning a 4-2 deficit thanks to singles wins from Vlad Fomkinas, Phil Newton and Matt Peppercorn.

The second semi final saw Pinchbeck FC A win 6-3 at Consti Club B.

After losing the opening pairs, the football club reeled off five straight games to secure an unassailable lead, with Archie Austin winning the vital game 2-1 against Stu Ewins. Josh Burton struck a 180 in his singles win.

With several teams not having fixtures, the week also allowed for rearranged matches to be played.

In Division A, bottom side Green Dragon A won 16-11 away at Kirton Leisure. Scott Williams hit a 128 checkout for Dragon, while Mark Ledger replied with a 114 finish for Leisure.

Earlier in the week in Division B, Drayman’s Arms B won 15-12 away at Pinchbeck FC A.

Jake Harris hit a 127 check-out and Kev Newton produced a 14-dart leg, both for the Drayman’s.

A Consti Club derby saw the Z team play two matches in one night against the D team, winning both 15-12 and 16-11. The night featured a 139 check-out from Mick Atkin, a 180 from Paul Merrill of the Z team, and a 180 from Dean Drage of the D side.

In Division C, leaders Pinchbeck FC C must wait to see if they will be crowned champions after second placed Services Club A lost 14-13 at Lincoln Arms C, leaving them 20 points behind with one game remaining. Trailing 12-9, Lincoln secured a narrow victory with wins for Nigel Goodwin (2-1) and Tony Brown (3-0) in the final two singles.
