Referring to the article in The Voice on September 23 ‘abuse of road workers’.
If only the LCC Highways department were to monitor the contractors who are working on the Pinchbeck Road project in Spalding, just maybe they would then understand the verbal abuse – albeit unacceptable.
1) The contractor is not monitoring where these workers are placing the signage.
2) The workers are either standing around talking on their phones, in their vehicle or not there! How does this look to gridlocked drivers?
3) We’ve had to complain to highways finding ourselves unable to exit our road on to Pinchbeck Road as four signs were all placed together in our eye view, meaning we were unable to see oncoming traffic!
4) The temporary lights on junction West Elloe/Pinchbeck Road have not always been working causing dangerous problems with lorries etc.
All this frustration is then taken out on the workers.
It’s actually a disgrace to continually close and dig up so many roads all at once.
Not only does this affect the motorists trying to go about their daily routine but also Spalding town shops and businesses, which is now a no-go area.
There’s also the ongoing frustration at Enterprise Way with Anglian Water.
A sinkhole with months of excuses and now the promise of re-opening Friday, September 25?
SHDC needs to put pressure on the highways and utilities to step up and think about what it’s doing to our already bleak town.
