Four teams remain unbeaten after the second round of fixtures in Division One of the Spalding & District League.
Consti G were 5-1 victors over Boundary A in a meeting of opening week winners. Neil Grant (scr), Martin Deacon (o14) and Nathan Wilson (o7) secured victory with wins in the first three frames, although Wilson needed the black ball to see off Tim Burrows (scr) 39-37.
Steve Smith (r14) pulled one back with a black-ball win, and that also decided the final pairing, with Mark Wilkinson (o14) triumphant for the hosts, firing a break of 28 on the way.
Two more first-day winners met at Holbeach D, where visitors Services A emerged 4-2 winners after winning the first three games, courtesy of Vince Fitter (o42), Phil Spencer (o14) and Chris Dunmore (o42). Spencer shot a 38 break.
Two black-ball games went in favour of the hosts, courtesy of Callum Scott (r7) and Denis Hix (scr).
Pyramid F also made it two out of two, inflicting a second defeat on home side Gosberton A. A see-saw encounter saw Ian Gibson (scr) put Pyramid ahead but Adam Twigg (o14) levelled. Ian Clare (o7) restored the away advantage, only for Andy Adair (r14) to make it 2-2. It was left to Oli Player (o28) to win the deciding frame.
The other three games were all maiden away wins, inflicting second defeats of the season on their respective hosts.
A close encounter at Holbeach B saw Neil Favell (o14) beat Neil Harvey (o21) 53-52 on a re-spotted black to put Donington C ahead. Pete Mullane (o28) made it 2-0 and it was match over when Neil Reynolds (o49) triumphed
67-63, with a 23 break and 27 clearance.
Garry Cooke (o21) pulled one back before another
re-spotted black saw Don Monk (o14) add another point for the hosts.
Another tight match saw Consti H triumph 4-2 at Holbeach E, winning and losing black-ball games but securing overall victory with a respotted black in the last frame. That saw Doug Garfoot (o35) see off James Crampton (o28) 64-57.
The winners’ other successful players were Seb Grimston (o28) and Mark German (o21), with Richard Parkes (o7) and Phil Coaten (o14) getting the home points.
An opening frame win for Joely Shears (r7) was as good as it got for Services D against Pyramid D.
The visitors stormed back with wins from James Sharpe (39 break), Raj Vanteru (o7), Josh Agger (o28) and Pete Sharpe-Grose (r7) earning a 5-1 win.
Holbeach G lead the way in Division Two after a second consecutive 5-1 win, this time at Whittlesey A. Jordan Ravenhill (o14) set them on their way, although Andy Blythe (o14) briefly raised home hopes when he made it 1-1.
Ravenhill played a second game to beat Jason Clarke (scr) in a black-ball game, with Ben Harding hitting a 22 break in his win before Ian Woodberry (scr) wrapped things up.
Pyramid E were also 5-1 victors, beating visitors Holbeach A, courtesy of wins by Steve Thompson (r7), Neil McLean (r14), Adrian Sharpe (o21) and Jeremy Radford (scr). Mark Woods got the visitors’ point and hit a 33 break.
Services B made it two wins out of two with a 4-2 triumph against Holbeach F but had to work hard. Jason Rose (o35) beat Susan Lefley (r28) in a black-ball game, scoring a 38 break, but David Lefley (r28) hit straight back to level. Alan Hansard (scr) made it 2-1, only for Dan Mayfield (o28) to equalise, scoring a break of 20 on the way.
It was left to Andy Neal (scr) to win 78-2 against Alex Bourne (o21) to decide things, helped by a break of 22.
Gosberton D made up for sitting out the opening week in style, demolishing Pyramid B 6-0.
Lynn Simmons (21), Neil Simmons (o28), Keith Langley (o28) and Paolo Gensiorskys (scr), including a 23 break, had comfortable wins, before James Parrott (scr) held off the challenge of Carl Kelham (scr) 52-45 after a re-spotted black to complete the whitewash.
Boundary B and Services C were both looking for their first win and it went to the visitors, with Nigel Cherry (o7) successful in the deciding final frame to get Services up and running. His winning team-mates were Geoff Hemsil (r28) and Kev Fitter (o7), with Rich Wilson (o21) and Dougy Lythgoe (o14), who hit a 23 break, picking up home wins.
Gosberton B collected their first win, with a 4-2 success at Consti F, hitting back from 2-1 down. Jack Chilvers (o28) had a break of 23 in his opening frame win and, after Simon Slinger (o7) levelled, Robert Adams (o21) beat Mark Howlett (o7) 56-55 in a black-ball game to leave the home side needing one win from their final two games to secure victory. However, Mark Payne (o14) and Stu Ruskin (r7) spoiled their hopes.
Consti J are unbeaten in Division Three after seeing off Donington B 5-1. Gavin Hallgarth (scr), Trev Braybrook (r28), Adam Braybrook (o7) and Stewart Davies (o7) got their wins, either side of a third frame victory for Phil Burrell (scr) in a black-ball game.
Consti I’s trip to Donington A went as expected, with the visitors winning their second game, while the home team suffered a second defeat.
Pete Stokes (r14), John Bellerby (r14) and David Twelves (scr) made the points safe, before Ryan Hobbs (scr) and Tony Scully (o42) hit back, with Scully firing in a 22 break, to match Stokes’ earlier effort.
Bourne SC hit back from two down to beat visitors Consti D. Geoff Ellingworth (r21) and Tom Digby (r7) both win black-ball games but Bourne hit back with wins from Maurice Power (scr), Matt Bennett (r7) and Daryl Mawhinney (scr).
Karl Gray (r7) put Gosberton C ahead at Consti C and Shaun Dewing (o7) levelled the match after Dave Banister (scr) and Terry George (r14) had turned things round.
It was left to Mark Gray (r21) to settle the points in favour of hosts Consti.
Donington D trailled twice at home to Whittlesey B but emerged 4-2 victors. Andy Skutela (r14) and Pawel Skutela (r7) won for the visitors but Dan Sawdy (o7) and Geoff Harris (r28) added to Dan Taylor’s (r14) earlier win to pull off victory.
