Johnson stars as Consti get top spot

Front runners after week two of the Spalding and District League are Consti, who top the table with 12 points.
Mick Johnson hit the highest break of the season so far with a 77. In their fixture at Holbeach B, they won 7-0. Johnson (o50) defeated Denis Hix (r60) 200-192. Another close game was had between Andy Spearman (r70) of Holbeach against Alan Hansard (r60), Hansard winning 200-193. Stewart Davies (r40) completed a good night for Consti, beating Neil Harvey (r40), 200-170.
Donington A are second after a 5-2 home win against Gosberton B, despite a 41 break from Nigel Brasier (r40). He lost out by eight points to Gosberton’s Jamie Mumby (r60) 200-192. Bringing Donington back level was Tony Scully (r30), beating James Parrott (r70) 200-142. It was left to Ben Wrigglesworth (r20) to put Donington over the finishing line, in a 200-179 win against Paolo Gensiorskys (r50).
Donington B bounced back from the previous week’s defeat with a maximum 7-0 over Holbeach A. Captain Neil Reynolds (o60) was in good form, putting away breaks of 35, 35, 33, 28 and 23 in a 79-point win over Jason Rose (o10). Neil Burton (r80) had a big win against Mick Cooper (o210) 200-47. Cooper had breaks of 37 and 36. Mick Pearl (r30), with breaks of 28, 26 and 25, completed the whitewash by defeating Ben Harding (r10) 200-162.
In their first game of the season, Broadway hosted Pyramid A, but lost 7-0. John Clapton (r120) had a 200-158 win against one of the new signings of Broadway, Paul Collicchio (o10). Broadway’s other new player, Minaz Kazzam (o20), lost out by 45 points to Reegan Cooke-Holmes 200-155. Putting the icing on the cake was John Twell (r50) as he ran out winner against Wole Akintola (r30) 200-166, making a 32 break.
The Gosberton A versus Services fixture was played later in the week.
