Tigers’ Vase hopes killed at Kilworth

Holbeach United are out of the FA Vase after losing 2-1 at AFC North Kilworth on Saturday.

There was a celebratory atmosphere at the Leicestershire club with the match being its first ever in the competition.

The game itself was very much a tale of two halves with the wind playing its part.

The Tigers had the wind behind them in the first half.

Though there were few chances they took the lead 10 minutes before the break with a fine finish from Abdul-Hamid Chouchane.

Jack Sellars in the Holbeach goal had already made several decent saves before North Killworth drew level in the 70th minute though a header.

The Midlands League Division One side though were much the better team in the second period.

The winner came with just 10 minutes remaining again Holbeach failing to deal with a corner into the box and the striker heading home.

Oli Williams was named as the Tigers’ man of the match.

Holbeach were due to play FC Parson Drove on Wednesday night (result not known at the time of going to press).

They’re then back at home at Carter’s Park again on Saturday with Gorleston Reserves the visitors.
