Gamebird pairs open sees Stockton and Markillie walk away as winners

Tydd St Giles ladies hosted their annual Gamebird pairs open competition on September 3.

52 ladies took part in a better ball Stableford competition, played over 18 holes.

They enjoyed an afternoon tea themed halfway house and finished with a meal and presentation of the prizes.

Captain Sue Racey was pleased to announce that they had raised £1,200 for her captain’s charity Pancreatic Cancer Action.

Winners were Andrea Stockton and Kim Markillie with 45 points, from (Gedney Hill GC), runners up were Leslie Foote (King’s Lynn GC) and Pat Webb (Middleton Hall GC) with 43 points.

In third place were Petra Meir (Tydd St Giles GC) and Maggie Clarkson (King’s Lynn GC) with 39 points, in fourth place Bev Harpham and Susan Adlam (Burghley Park GC) with 37 points.

Nearest the pin 4th and 16th holes was Dang Kittisak (Ryston Park GC), nearest the line 7th hole was Jane Jewson (Searles Leisure Resort), nearest the pin in two 18th hole was Gina Hough (Heacham Manor GC).

Winners of the Joy Ringer Hidden Holes Memorial prize, donated by the Ringer family, went to Deborah Reeve and Eleanor Kelly (King’s Lynn GC ) with 15 points. This went to six holes to find a winner.

Seniors’ Captain’s Day – Division 1: 1st Tim Martin net 68, 2nd Mick Vassall net 71, 3rd (ocb) Wayne Alder net 73, Division 2 – 1st (ocb) Brian Newby net 71, 2nd Andy Turner net 71, 3rd (ocb) Peter Purcell net 72, Division 3 – 1st (ocb) Steven Dewey net 70, 2nd (ocb) Steven Horton net 70, 3rd Michael Corbett net 70.

  • Sutton Bridge Seniors travelled to play Fakenham Seniors on September 10 and suffered a 4-2 loss. The winning pairs for Sutton Bridge were Andy Parks and Rick Morley by 2 and 1 and a resounding win for Wally Lawes and Brian Moss by 8 and 7.
