Readers are being urged to dig up their memories of farming and food production as a South Holland charity looks to launch a ‘virtual classroom’ online.
Chain Bridge Forge is looking to put a display in the old sail loft as part of its bid to purchase the building next to the Forge.
Alternatively it wants to create a virtual classroom to protect old farming techniques and practices, as it does with blacksmithing.
Now Geoff Taylor, the man behind the forge and sister site South Holland Heritage, wants to do similar for agriculture and food.
“As part of this work we have looked at how we serve the community and discovered that the agriculture and food was poorly severed,” he said. “These are the two areas that we are supposed to be good at in this district.
“We want the community to contribute to our knowledge of food production through South Holland.
“I’ve spoken to Nicholas Watts of Vine House Farm and he’s given me a history of AH Worth and Co written by Peter Shepherd.
“I wonder if there are any more people interested in telling us their memories and hopefully loads of photos.”

It also follows Geoff’s recent appeal for memories and information relating to the Midlands and Great Northern Joint Railway.
South Holland Heritage have made an interactive map of M&GN track through South Holland, as it’s done with the Port Of Spalding.
