LETTERS – Support for speeding campaign

We would like to show our full support to the Bushell family who are campaigning to reduce the speed limit on this very busy road.

We live on Fen End Lane which runs parallel with Cowbit road. We too find it difficult using the junction of Fen End Lane as it is near the bend, so we use the Burr Lane junction, which is also a hill start. The sheer speed of the traffic makes it extremely difficult to turn right towards town.

There are over 60 properties on Fen End Lane and more down Burr Lane that have to use this junction. We have lived here just over ten years and have seen a steady increase in traffic. I also have walked into town which I know some residents do to access work and children walking to school. It can be quite scary with not only cars but large lorries coming past at 60mph.

We think the speed limit should be reduced to 40mph from the bridge to the roundabout on the A16. The speed limit was recently reduced to 40mph in Deeping St Nicholas, surely it won’t take a tragedy to happen before something changes.
