If you’re looking for free children’s activities during the summer holidays then Spalding Library is on song.
It’s annual Summer Reading Challenge is entitled ‘Read to the Beat’ and a number of its regular activity days will be themed around music.
They take place every Thursday throughout the summer and are aimed at four to 11 year olds.
Sessions include making arty music pictures and funky castanets as part of the Symphony of Art (August 6), making a concertina dog and ‘snazzy snail (August 13), a K Pop Day (August 20) and a Musical Day (August 27) where you can make a drum and shaker.
All these sessions are 10am to 2pm.
On Tuesday August 11 from 2pm to 3pm there’s also a special visit from ZooLab who will be bringing some amazing animals and discussing the noises they make. Anyone wishing to attend this event is asked to book in advance via the Lincolnshire Libraries website.
It’s all rounded off with a tea party to celebrate the end of the Summer Read Challenge at the library on Saturday, September 19 from 10am to 12pm.

“We’ve some fabulous and free activities planned so get on down to the library, sign up and discover amazing books, collect rewards and celebrate the power of reading with us all summer long.”
