A 103-year-old D-Day veteran was the guest of honour to mark its anniversary on Saturday, June 6.
Charles Giles joined the Spalding Royal Naval Association organised-service led by Fr Rob Parker-McGee.
Mr Giles served on HMS Bleasdale and was part of the historic Normandy beach landings 82 years ago. He was also present in Japan when the Japanese military surrendered at the conclusion of the Second World War.
The event also saw tributes paid to the three Royal Navy personnel who lost their lives in a helicopter crash last week.
The order of service included several readings and moments of reflection including RNA chairman Tony Yoxall, read Alfred Lord Tennyson’s poem, ‘Crossing the Bar’ and ex Royal Engineers Lance Corporal reading Psalm 107.
Mr Giles laid a wreath on behalf of the RNA.
A branch spokesman said: “The event drew a strong showing of support from veterans, service personnel, and the community.”
