Police appeal over cake theft

Police have issued an appeal after a man stole £70 worth of cake.

The Treat Street Bake Shed in Priory Road, Spalding operates a self service check out with people able to pick up cakes from a shed they then pay for.

But on its social media the firm said it had ‘half of the cakes taken without payment’ on May 9.

Now South Holland Police have released a picture of a person they’d like to speak to in relation to the incident?

A spokesman for South Holland Police, said: “We are appealing for information after items worth £70 were stolen from a cake stand in Priory Road, Spalding earlier this month.

“We believe the man pictured can help us with our enquiries.

“If you have any information that could help our investigation, email [email protected] quoting the incident number 458 of 09/05/26.”

Those behind Treat Street said they had been ‘disheartened’ by the theft.

“Treat Street runs on trust, honesty and community support and thankfully the vast majority of people who visit are absolutely wonderful,” a spokesman said. “For now, we’ll still be continuing, because of all the lovely customers who do support us properly each weekend.”
