Those behind Spalding’s Pride in Place plan say it has been ‘strongly endorsed’ by central government.
The blueprint for how the Spalding Town Board will look to spend £20m over the next ten years to improve the town was unveiled last November.
The support of the government is set out in a letter – to board member Sir John Hayes MP from Miatta Fahnbulleh MP, parliamentary under secretary of state for devolution, faith and communities – which also recognises the work that has taken place to shape the Pride in Place plan with the community.
Spalding Neighbourhood Board chairman Robin Hancox said: “I am so pleased that we have received this ringing endorsement from the government for our Pride in Place plan for Spalding.
“We believe that we have developed a robust plan for the town that is strongly centred on what local people want and need here in Spalding and it is fantastic that we have the support from the government for our vision.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has played a part in creating this successful plan – our board members, officers, partners, and stakeholders, but above all, our local community.”
“It is because of the involvement and feedback of the public that we have been able to develop a plan that reflects local people’s aspirations, and which will make a long- term and tangible difference for our town.
“This is a significant step forward for the Pride in Place plan for Spalding, and we can now move forward to turn this vision into reality – always working together with the community as we do so.”
Coun Nick Worth, leader of South Holland District Council, said: “This endorsement is a hugely positive moment for Spalding and reflects the hard work invested across our community to shape a plan that truly speaks to local priorities.
“This funding represents a real opportunity to strengthen our town centre, support local businesses, enhance public spaces, and build the foundations for a brighter future.”
Sir John Hayes, MP for South Holland the Deepings said: “I am delighted the Government has given such an endorsement to Spalding Neighbourhood Board’s plan.
“It’s a testament to all involved in drawing up Spalding’s proposals, and now we must devote our efforts to turn our plan into reality, ensuring the investment nurtures and nourishes Spalding for generations to come.”
