Spalding faced a tough challenge at the Women’s East League Division One North leaders.
From the first whistle, hosts Peterborough applied relentless pressure but Spalding’s defence stood firm.
A stand-out performance came from player of the match Freya Lee, who delivered an exceptional display in goal.
Save after save kept Spalding in contention, frustrating Peterborough’s attackers. Her efforts ensured the scoreline remained a competitive 2–0 at half-time.
Spalding’s hard work was nearly rewarded when Lauren Spenceley seized on a scoring opportunity following a superb pass from Sophie Wilson. Charging into the circle, she was wiped out by the onrushing keeper, earning herself some impressive airtime in the process and crucially winning Spalding a penalty flick.
Despite the drama and the well-earned chance, the flick was not converted and Peterborough went on to add another goal.

Honours finished even in the Division Three North West derby at Glen Park.
Beautiful play from Steph Wilson, Vicky Worrall and Kelly Cooper in the middle and surging runs from Camille Rogers and Emily Wright on the wings led to Kelly Cooper scoring an eighth-minute opener.
Spalding then continued to play strongly, however Long Sutton began their bombardment but Leanne Isaac-Pick’s impressive reach and some decisive tackles from Bev Jones saw Spalding keep their lead to half-time.
Spalding were unable to secure a deserved second goal and Long Sutton captain Hannah Baker scored with an amazing clean strike to share the points.

Spalding’s third team slipped four points off the Division Five North West title pace with only their second defeat of the season.
After naming one of the most youthful sides they have selected this season, the squad showed great determination.
Goalkeeper Anya Knights and Kelly Tizzano produced outstanding stick saves to keep the scores level.
Spalding began to find their rhythm but despite some promising attacking play, they were unable to convert their chances.
A lapse in defence allowed Newmarket to go ahead before the break.
As the second half progressed, Spalding lost some shape in midfield and Newmarket extended their advantage to 4-0.
Spalding refused to let their heads drop and their persistence paid off when they were awarded a penalty corner, with Eloise Hull delivering a beautiful slap shot from the top of the D.
