I write regarding the news that a large number of councils are attempting to subvert the conventional democratic rights of their electorate and that this indeed includes Lincoln.
It is claimed that this is due to avoiding waste and is nothing to do with the fact that the electorate might not vote as the incumbent councillors or government might like.
It is my considered view that in a country where we “can afford” to pay for HS2, green taxes, for permanent gap years for the entire Third World, to send multiple millions to Pakistan and Jamaica for storm damage and pay for the coronation of a mid-70s cancer patient that we cannot afford not to hold those elections!
If the public are to be denied the peaceful means to redress the lunacy, greed and in some cases outright criminality taken from them, then this irresponsible government is actively daring them to take the law into their own hands which is something we must avoid.
In some areas it is reported that people have been denied their absolute right to elect their local government for up to seven years!
How can this be allowed in a country that imprisons people for thoughtless words?
I would advise and request that anyone who reads this contact their MP to express their opposition to this tyrannical betrayal of trust and also ask that people look into Graham Moore’s work with the English Constitution Society as many of our irrevocable legal rights have been illegally taken from us and things are only getting worse!
