Councillors have teamed up to help a group of short tennis players to continue to play together.
The group meet every Monday to play the slower version of tennis and credit it as keeping them healthy and sociable.
But with their previous base at the Castle Sports Centre being renovated, they put a plea out for a new venue.
Friend of the group and sometimes player Amanda Halifax led the search and identified the Polka Dot Dance Academy as a possible venue.
She then managed to get a host of South Holland District Council members to put money towards the sessions so they could hire the venue until they can return to the revamped Castle Sports.
“After searching all the schools and village halls we found Polka Dot,” Amanda said. “I asked Gary Taylor if he could help with funding and he very kindly offered funds and asked all the other Councillors.
“A sum of £1,300 was given to help to pay the hire fee at Polka Dots Dance Academy until the new Sports Centre is built in 2026.
“All the players are really thankful to the councillors and are overjoyed to be able to meet and keep playing.”
