Churches come together for events

A group that brings together members of different churches has several weeks of events ahead.

Churches together in East Elloe draws from Anglican, Catholic, Methodist, Baptist and Free churches.

The group’s Nigel Beverley-Stone said: “Our aim is to share ways of working together to serve God, respecting and enjoying our different faith groups joined together as Christians working together in friendship.

“During each year we offer Bible Studies, Prayer gatherings, social events such as cream teas and barbecues.
“We visit many of the care homes in the area offering short services to residents of all faiths.”

The first event is this Saturday (August 1) and involves a pre-booked afternoon tea at Sutton St Edmunds Church from 1pm to 5pm.

Future events include a prayer gathering at St Nicholas Church in Lutton at 7pm Wednesday, August 12.

That church is also hosting its Flower Festival from Friday to Sunday, August 28 and 29 while St Matthew’s Church in Sutton Bridge is hosting a prayer gathering at 7pm on Wednesday, September 9.

Fenland Church in Tydd Gote is hosting a barbecue from 6pm on Saturday, September 12 and will make International World Peace Day with an event on Monday, September 21 from 7pm.
