Openers’ retirement gift

An unbeaten 141-run first-wicket stand between Luke Barwick (60ret) and Steven Milnes (60ret) set Long Sutton Mallards on the way to an emphatic victory over Grimston Lions in the Mid-Norfolk Sunday League’s Kevin Grimmer Division.

Once that pair had retired not out, wickets tumbled before Jack Smith (16) and Paul Rushen (15no) added a middle-order boost on the way to 210/5.

Grimston slipped from 36/1 to 46/5 in their reply and were eventually all out for 130 in the 27th over.

Six of the seven Mallards bowlers enjoyed wicket success with Faz Mukhtar (3-17) and Craig Milnes (2-10) the pick of the bunch.

The win enabled Mallards to overtake club rivals Sutton Colts in the table after they conceded their scheduled match at leaders North Runcton.
