Marking centenary year

Spalding Town Bowls Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary with some modern new shirts.

Last season, the club won Division Two of the Spalding & District EBA Triples League.

Secretary Peter Turnbull said: “This is the club’s centenary year and we have finally succumbed to the modern fashion for coloured shirts.

“The photo shows the team, resplendent in our new shirts, with the trophy.

“Modern bowls dress is clearly less formal than the collars and ties worn in the club’s early years.”
