Hull of a welcome to county

There’s a new sight as you sail into South Holland from the south.

A boat has been placed on the A17 roundabout with Bridge Road at Sutton Bridge, just after drivers negotiate off the Cross Keys Bridge separating Norfolk and Lincolnshire.

The landmark has been installed by Jack Tyrrell after being donated by Ashley King, of Ashwood Homes, with help from Tears and Crusader Traffic Management.

Long Sutton’s Men’s Shed carried out work on the boat and made it secure.

“It’s the first roundabout you come to in South Holland and the gateway to Lincolnshire but I’ve always thought it doesn’t look great.

“It needed something and then the offer of the boat came along and it’s perfect as it relates nicely to the marina.

“There’s still a lot more work to be done and the Men’s Shed are working on some lights to be put up over Christmas.

“We’ll look to keep changing the flag so it’s always welcoming people into the county.”
