A tractor driver has had his licence revoked after landing a Range Rover on its roof.
Kevin Ruff (40), of Durhams Road, Gedney Dawsmere, admitted drink-driving following the incident on Hospital Drove, Long Sutton, on March 22.
Boston Magistrates’ Court was told police found his car upside down.
Following a breath test Ruff gave a provisional reading of 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
He had blown 78 microgrammes in a provisional test, the court was told and had admitted to police he had been the driver of the vehicle.
Defending Ruff, Justin Atkinson KC, said his client had no previous convictions and called for a shorter ban saying: “He works as a tractor driver and this is going to cause problems for his employers.
“They’re able to employ him in the yard for a period but it’s possible he won’t be able to do that for long.”
Ruff was disqualified from driving for 18 months to be reduced by 18 weeks upon the successful completion of a drink-driving awareness course.
He was also fined £864, ordered to pay a £346 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
