LETTERS: Spalding has gone downhill

Many congratulations to Mrs Thomas!
I have lived in this area all my life and how the once lovely, clean, tidy market town of Spalding has gone downhill.
All there is now, empty shops or very cheap, untidy places with bedding in doorways, litter strewn about, boarded up places.
I can remember when Spalding was a lovely, clean vibrant town with a buzzing market twice a week, with lots of different stalls, everyone chatting away to each other.
Lovely clean paths, very nice individual shops, and we even had very good department stores, ironmongers, butchers, wonderful bread and cake shops, sports shops, etc.
All there is now are badly made silly planters, useless benches and some concrete animals. I’m sure they are really going to bring bus loads of tourists into the town, what a sheer waste!
Unfortunately I feel totally ashamed to say I live near Spalding.
