New cemetery site plan

Plans for a new village cemetery in Crowland have been submitted to South Holland District Council.

The site is off James Road and measures just under one hectare (2.4) acres.
If approved, the new facility will include standard burial plots, green burial plots with cremation plots.
There will also be a small amenity building to ‘provide shelter for those attending burials,’ says the application which has been submitted by the parish council.
“The existing cemetery in Crowland is close to capacity and, having regard to the significant levels of residential development seen in recent years, there is the need for further burial provision,” says a design and access statement accompanying the application.
The car park will have provision for 12 vehicles while space will be allowed for parking on the internal road if needed.
Five parking spaces will also be established just off the junction with James Road so visitors can park when the main site is closed and walk to the cemetery.
The site has previously had permission for a cemetery and allotment in the past, but the locations have been swapped so a new application is required.
