Pinchbeck United were downed at Diss Town on Saturday as their play-off hopes looked effectively ended.
Diss are in the final play-off place in the Thurlow Nunn Division One North and are now 14 points ahead of the ninth placed Knights after a 3-1 win.
The home side were 2-0 in front inside 20 minutes with Malachi Wright heading home a sixth-minute free kick before Charlie Webb netted the second with another header.
Pinchbeck earned a lifeline in stoppage time at the end of the first half when they were awarded a penalty converted by JJ Ward.
They pushed for an equaliser in the second period, but were then undone on the counter in the 92nd-minute, OIiver Williams confirming the win for the hosts.
The Knights host Dussendale and Hellesdon Rovers this Saturday at the Sir Halley Stewart.
Knights: Martin, Stevens, Doran, Melson, Cranfield, Brooks, Howlett, Ratley, Slater, Cullen, Ward. Subs: Tate, Panton, Thorrold.
Attendance: 98
- The win for Diss was bad news for Holbeach United who are also trying to get in the play-offs but had their scheduled game at Haverhill Borough last Saturday called off due to a water-logged pitch.
They’re now a place above Pinchbeck in eighth with a six-point gap to the play-offs.
The Tigers make the relatively short trip to Parson Drove on Saturday.
