Air ambulance is grounded

The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance has been grounded by a paperwork issue.

It announced on its social media channels on Friday it had been ‘stood down’ initially for the weekend.
“It follows an administrative oversight which means we cannot hold controlled drugs on site,” the statement continues. “We are in discussion with EMAS at the highest level to find a resolution as soon as possible.
“We are working closely with the Home Office on the controlled drugs licence.
“We are grateful to all of our valued supporters who are by our side at this time.
“We will keep you updated.”
No mention has been made on the social media channels of the air ambulance resuming flights as The Voice went to press nor had the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance responded to a request for a comment.
The unit does still have ground vehicles to attend incidents.
The MAGPAS air ambulance, (Mid Anglia General Practitioner Accident Service) is also regularly called to South Holland for incidents where the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance is out of service.
