Power cut affects hundreds of Spalding properties after ‘accidental equipment damage’

A host of businesses and schools are closed after a power cut this morning (July 16) in Spalding.

National Grid says it hopes to have the 948 properties affected back on by 10am this morning after a ‘High Voltage’ problem.

It also says the issue is because its ‘equipment has been accidently damaged’.

A spokesman said: “We know you’re without power. We were alerted at 8:28am this morning and our engineers are working to get your electricity back on as quickly as possible. We’re sorry for the disruption.

“We give you our best estimate for when your power will be back on, based on what we know at the time. Times might change if we face unexpected challenges getting to the fault. These times show when the last person in the area will have power back – most of you will be reconnected before this.”

Updates are being provided at National Grid’s website.

The Tulip Academy’s Springview campus has had to close as a result of the issue.
