Second closure orders for three South Holland shops

Three South Holland shops have been given closure orders for a second time.

Adams Mini Mart in North Street, Crowland and both Warsaw and Spalding European Market in Winsover Road, Spalding, were targeted in a day of action yesterday (January 15).

Sgt Callum Corder from South Holland’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “In close collaboration with our Trading Standards partners we have again imposed closure orders, on this occasion our targets were three shops across the South Holland district.

“These shops were involved in the sale of illegal tobacco products and vapes.”

The three month closure orders are in place until midnight on April 16.

The order prohibits anyone from remaining on or entering the property with a few exceptions to allow maintenance. If anyone does anything which they are prohibited from doing by this order, they are liable for arrest and could receive up to 51 week in prison, or a fine, or both.

Andy Wright, principal trading standards officer said, “These are all premises that have been the subject of previous closure orders for the sale of illegal cigarettes and vapes.

“We are aware that we need to work towards a long-term solution and that closure orders are only a temporary fix.

“With that in mind we will seek assurances from landlords to ensure their premises are removed from the cycle of criminal activity that we have seen to date.”
