Get ready for ‘A Great and Mighty Wonder’.
That’s the name of South Holland Singers’ latest show at a new venue this Friday (December 13).
It will be their first show at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Gosberton and takes place at 7.30pm.
“A Great and Mighty Wonder’ will celebrate stars and light at this magical time of year,” a spokesman for the group said. “The programme includes a variety of seasonal music from different periods as well as traditional Christmas carols for the audience to join in with and a selection of readings.”
Tickets are £10, to include refreshments, and are available from choir members, Bookmark, The Crescent, Spalding, The Flower Basket, Fleet Street, Holbeach, on the door on the evening, or online at www.south
hollandsingers.co.uk.
Under 18s are admitted free of charge.
Looking to the new year, the choir is hoping to attract new members and is once again inviting anyone who enjoys singing to give the choir a try at an informal rehearsal on Saturday, January 11.
The ‘Come and Sing with Us’ event will be led by musical director Samantha Graper and aims to demonstrate in a relaxed and friendly setting the many benefits of singing with like-minded people.
Admission to the event, at Spalding Baptist Church Hall in Swan Street, Spalding, from 2pm to 4pm, is free and refreshments will be served.
The audience will be invited to join in or simply listen.
“The idea is to encourage people who enjoy singing but have perhaps felt, for a variety of reasons, that choirs aren’t their ‘thing’, to give it a go,” a spokesman said.
“The group is friendly and welcoming.
“There are no auditions and although an ability to read music is an advantage, it is not a requirement.
“Not only can singing regularly improve your general health, it also reduces stress and improves your social life.”
The choir usually meets on Thursday evenings during the autumn and spring terms from 7.15pm to 9pm at the Baptist Church.
